hi, i intend to visit yunnan on march 2011 from hanoi, vietnam and would like to know whether there is a train service between Hanoi and Kunming? also please provide the timetable and the fare

I believe you can take a train from Kunming to Nanning, from there you take a train to the Vietnamese border, walk across, and take the train to Hanoi on the other side. I will be doing this in a few weeks time. I presume you can do the opposite easily enough.

There is no direct train from Hanoi to Kunming now(The train has been out of operation). The best way is to take flight from Hanoi to Kunming.
