About:China Customs Declaration

I bought a computer from a company in China. Now they are telling me that customs has it and I need to pay an additional $145 in taxes. How do I find out if this is true?

Personally, I think it is true, since China has strict limitations and policies about the inbound and outbound luggage and articles. You may confirm this with China customs directly.
