About:China Customs Declaration

I am just wondering about going to China with a high value custom bicycle. I love bicycle riding and I hear that getting a drivers licence is almost impossible, anyway.
I would be staying several months with a GF and likely try for residence status.
How are the customs officials going to handle this ? I heard that (in the past??) they don't allow bringing your own transportation over the borders. ???
Would there be a tax if i bring it with air luggage ?
I expect there would be a lot of tax if i mailed it straight to her place. Ideas ???
I have been there twice for 3 weeks.
Thanks

You can bring in the bicycle and have to fill an application formm while pass the airport custom and handle in when you are leaving. If you bring with air lugguage, it should be something with the airlies lugguage rules.
