hello! im a filipino teacher here in xinjiang for 3 years and i will be renewing my residence permit but there's a new policy now here in xinjiang that z visa is required for the entry, which i didn't have that for the past 3 years. i want to know if Filipino nationals can apply for z visa at the china embassy in hong kong which is quite nearer for me to travel rather than going home. thank you very much.. any reply related to this is highly appreciated.

If you can prepare all requirements for Z visa application, you can apply for Z visa at the Commissioner's Office of Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ministry of PRC in Hong Kong SAR.

Sorry, I have read again more carefully. Are you sure about what you say? it makes no sense that you should need a new Z visa if you have been working on a temporary residence permit which is really a visa by another name. If it is the same employer there shouldn't be a problem..... has your employer checked with the PSB Exit and Entry Administrations, perhaps over a lavish dinner :) In any case, the regulations permit a Z visa to be issued inside China (regs sighted in a Guangdong PSB office) though PSB E&E offices seem reluctant to use this power.

thanks for the reply, for more info ever since here in xinjiang Z- visa is not required to get RP, i came here with L-visa and when i got a job in 2008 my school do all my papers done to get my RP, and my contract have been renew every year so with my RP, but now accrdg. to the DFA in urumqi a new policy applied in JUly that Z- visa entry is require for those who are renewing or applying for RP. and it must have to be done outside china, so any co filipinos out there who got their z visa in HK, coz i heard they accept the papers depending on the nationality? but im not sure if this is also true with the application of Z-visa..
