The Zhanjiang West Train Station is a little far from city center. It is located close to TangHang Village, Mazhang Town. From downtown area, there are city-bus connecting to this railway station.

Transfer via Hai'an is also a popular method to Haikou. From downtown Zhanjiang, you could take a bus to Hai'an in 2 hours and then hire cab to the ferry terminal in 10 minutes. The ferry is almost in operation 24 hours round the clock. The voyage is about 45 minutes.

I don't know yet where the intercity bus station in Haikou is. I was passing through Haikou on the bus Zhanjiang-Sanya. The bus didn't stop anywhere except at the ferry terminal. Just small advice: if you are taking bus with bunk beds, make sure to buy middle-row bunk, unless you are very short person.

Dear future visitors to Zhanjiang from Haikou,
I'd like to advice that you take only passenger-loaded ferries from Xingang(新港) to Haian(海安), 6:00 am-6:00pm, or take passenger-automobiles held ferries to Haian 24-hour. And then take an express bus in Haian Bus Terminal (海安客运站）to Zhanjiang.Do not take any taxis because taxi drivers neglect safety and overload 7 passengers in the narrow taxi.
