About:Chinese Embassy in Indonesia

I am a swedish citizen currently in Bali. I need to get a visa to China so I can take a flight directly from indonesia to Shanghai.

Do I just go to the chinese consulate in Jakarta and get a visa? Does this work for non-indonesian citizen?

You can go to Surabaya or Jakarta to apply for a China Visa. Now, you need to submit application to Chinese Visa Application Service Center (CVASC) in Surabay or Jakarta rather than China embassy/consulate. Please read the above information about CVASC. Generally speaking, Swedish citizen can get a China tourist visa in Indonesia.
