About:Chinese Temporary Residence Permit

I am currently processing my employment permit for China. Most of the procedures are completed and I am now going to be entering China to do the final step to get my resident's permit. Is it true that I need to stay in China for 30 days once I enter China for my resident permit? I have been told that while I can get my passport back within 2 weeks, I cannot leave China for 30 days for the residency permit to take effect.

It is true that Z visa holders need to apply for a residence permit from a local county level Public Security Bureau within 30 days after entering China. You can't leave China when the residence permit is processed. The Z visa is single entry, you have used it to enter China, once you leave China when your residence permit is processed, you can't return to China with your present Z visa, you have to apply for a new Z visa to return to China. Once you get the residence permit, it can be used a multiple-entry visa to exit and enter China.
