You shall apply for China Travel Visa(https://www.travelchinaguide.com/embassy/visa/tourist.htm) but the longest stay duration is not more than 180 days, it is impossible for you to get a visa to stay in China for 1 year for visit only. If your immediate relatives living in China, it is possible for you to apply for a one year residence permit for family visit at the local police station after entering China.

it dues to your visa types, if you will be granted a single entry, you have to apply for a new visa. But for double or multi entries, you can re-enter China again.
