About:Marriage Registration in China

Hi, I am from Singapore and my husband is from Shanghai and we'll be settling down in Shanghai. We registered our marriage in Singapore, had our marriage certificate authenticated by Ministry of Foreign Affairs according to China embassy website. But when i try to extend my visa in China (as I know each time for a year and i have to renew it every year), I was told that the copy that was certified by MFA is not recognized and I need to go back to the China embassy in Singapore to have the marraige certificate authenticated.I'm confused. Please help!

Yes, your marriage certificate gotten in Singapore should be first authenticated by Singapore Ministry of Foreign Affairs, then authenticated by China embassy in Singapore, you have to make the 2 procedures, then the marriage certificate is recognized by Chinese government and can be used in China. Now, please return to Singapore to apply for the authentication at the China embassy in Singapore.
