About:China Transit Visa

Hello,

I am a Canadian/Australian citizen and I will be traveling to Sydney via Beijing in January. My layover is 15 hours (from 6:00-21:00). Do I need a transit visa for Peking airport if I want to leave for a few hours to sightsee?

you need a visa if you want to go out the airport. And here I advise you to apply for a visa beforehand if you want to a secure your trip to Beijing during the stopover. Because no one can ensure you that you will definitely be granted a visa or a stay permit at the airport. Best regards.
