Both bullet trains and buses are operating from Shanghai to Taizhou. It takes around 3hr by train while more than 5hrs by bus. So, you would better take one bullet train at Hongqiao Station to Taizhou. You could buy the tickets after your arrival, but tickets are usually hard to purchase especially during big holidays.
