If you have obtained a Hong Kong Entry Permit or the visa annotation on Permit for Travelling to and from Hong Kong and Macau, you can use your passport to enter Hong Kong and Singapore, otherwise, you have to renew your passport because a passport with at least 6 months validity is required when you apply for the Hong Kong entry permit.

If I will go to Shen Zhen for 1 day, do I still need the entry permit?
