About:China Consulate in Houston

I have China visa multi L that expired last month. I visa Shenzhen and Hong Kong 5 times last year. Do I have to go to Houston to renew directly to the Chinese Embassy.
I would also like to inquire about a longer visa as my Children's visa to the USA has been approved USCIS but needed new passport photo's me for wife to approved (already sent In ).
We will for certain go back HK a few times a year.

Yes, you have to go to China consulate in Houston to apply for a new 1 year multiple entry L visa.
