Is a bank statement required for applying for a tourist visa in China? And if so, is there a minimum amount?

Yes, if it is the first time for you to go to China, a bank statement is required for China tourist visa(https://www.travelchinaguide.com/embassy/visa/tourist.htm) application, your bank account should have at least 50,000 Pesos.
