About:China Customs Declaration

I will go to Hong Kong at the end of December, but I will stop over Beijing for 3 days tour. Do I have to declare my Jewelry? Like some gold Jewelry that I would love to bring it to Hong Kong to upgrade to a better piece. And I will return to Canada on Mid January, this time I will stop in Beijing for transfer only, so do I have to declare any thing that I would buy in Hong Kong to the Beijing Custom?
