About:Policy for Foreigners with Immediate Family Living in China

Hi,

I'm from Canada and I was wondering if this family visa is available in Canada.

I usually apply for the visitor visa which only allows me to stay for 90 days max. I wanted to know if I can keep extending the visitor visa every 90 days if I can't apply for the family visa when I want to stay for a really long time (maybe over a year). Would they question me as to why I stayed in china for so long when I decide to leave the country back to canada?

You can't obtain this kind of family visit visa in Canada, it is issued in Mainland China. You can get a Tourist Visa (L VISA)for family visit in Canada first, after entering China, go to local Exit & Enter Department to apply for 1 year residence permit for family visit, then you can stay in China for 1 year.

You can extend your visitor visa when your 90 days stay duration expires, but a visa can be only extended twice, 30 days stay duration per time, in total you can only stay in China for 150 days. You'd better apply for the Residence Permit for family visit if you satisfy the condition.
