About:Policy for Foreigners with Immediate Family Living in China

Hi! I live in Beijing with my Chinese wife, and just collected my Family Visit Visa/Residence Permit today. Up until now I've been on the 1-year L Visa with Multiple re-entries. Been here for nearly 7 years.
My question to anyone out there is this: What does this actually mean? May I find work now? Is there any difference in my status now, compared to the L one? If so, what?
Thanks:-)

According to the regulation, you are not allowed to work on this family visit visa. The only difference is a longer duration of stay. If you find a job, you can change it into a residence permit based on employment contract.
