About:Chinese Consulate in Melbourne

I am traveling to mainland china from Australia..I have a assault conviction from 5years ago from new Zealand but I hold a Australian passport and I'm a Australian citizen..I didn't declare I had a conviction on visa form..what I would like to know is will china customs be able to see my record from new Zealand and what will happen if they do?
