About:China Work Visa

Hi,
I got an offer to work in a multinational company in shanghai.
I was advice to enter china with a tourist visa and get my work visa sorted out when i am in china.
Is this process normal/legal?

You're required to apply for a work visa in advance through Chinese Visa Application Service Center, and it is normal regulation. No need to apply for China visa twice if you have enough time and required documents for Work visa. Change the L visa to Work visa will cost more.
