Hi, I'm intending to go from Beijing city to Mutianyu either on 15/12 or 16/12. I read conflicting information about the transport - will 936 go directly to Mutianyu on those dates? If so, do they only depart at 7am or 8am from Dongzhimen? And how do I get back to Beijing? I read from wikitravel that there is a 5.30 bus departure from Mutianyu that 'unofficially departs' at 4.00, but doesn't really stick to those times. Any advice? Wouldn't like to be caught our there overnight in winter or snow; even though it looks beautiful.Thanks!

As I know, bus 936 will not go directly to Mutianyu from Dongzhimen at that time. So you have to arrive in Huairou first and then change mini bus to Mutianyu. If you can not return to catch the last bus. You should take a taxi back to the city center. Or you can rent a car (20-130 per person) to Huairou Bus Station, nearly one hour. Then take bus 916 back to Dongzhimen. The last bus at 19:00.
