About:Chinese Consulate in Calgary

I'm a Canada Citizen. In December I and my daughter will fly to Singapore via Shanghai.
There are likely around 8 hours at Shanghai before we board on the airplane again.
You mentioned about "One Day Stay Permit", do I get such a permit at Shanghai Pudong airport?
What kind of document I need to bring with me? Can I leave the airport and find a hotel to rest?
Thank you very much!

You can get such a permit at Shanghai Pudong Airport, you can leave the airport and find a hotel to rest. Just bring your valid passport and final destination tickets and have booked which prove your transit in Shanghai.
