About:China Embassy in Thailand

Hello all,

I am a British national who is planning to obtain a single entry Chinese tourist visa in Bangkok, in mid-January, as I believe it will be less expensive for me than applying within the UK (I fly to Malaysia in January). Also, due to the three month validity of the visa (Am I right?), I would rather obtain one closer to my flight date (I arrive in Guilin on March 28th). I then intend to travel overland to Laos within the month.

Please can somebody confirm that I will be able to arrive at the embassy in Bangkok with my passport and photographs, and obtain a 30-day single entry tourist visa for China, which will be valid on my arrival date of March 28th?

Thank you very much, I appreciate this Q and A section a great deal!

I want to say that possibly Chinese embassy in Thailand will not accept your visa appliaction since you are a short time visitor there. They require residence permit or work visa in Thailand. And that is right about 3 months the validity of China visa, so you'd better apply it in UK through CVASC in early Jan.

Thank you for your advice!

Are there any other countries in SE Asia where it would be possible? Malaysia, Cambodia and the Philippines are my other options, potentially Laos also.

They are almost the same about China visa requirements, including Hong Kong, where visa policy is going tight than before. So, I hignly suggest you to apply China visa in UK before leaving.
