About:China Visa Entries / Validity / Duration of Stay

Hi there,

I will be flying from Taipei to Vancouver, with a transfer in PuDong Airport in Shanghai. My layover is 17 hours. Do I need a visa? Can I leave the airport? I have heard conflicting things....

Thanks!

You don't need a visa for the 17 hours stopover, you can leave the airport.

you do not need to apply for a visa if you hold a through ticket and have booked seats on international airliners flying directly through China, and will stay in a transit city for less than 24 hours without leaving the airport.
