Most men will wear trousers, a long sleeve button down shirt, a sweater vest and a blazer for the banquet as well as most other times during the fall winter months. Black leather shoes are most common.

It is fine for a women to wear long pants or skirt. Since this is a banquet your skirt should be no shorter than just above the knee and can go all the way to your ankles. If you have time, money and a slim figure, you may want to try a traditional Chinese Qipao dress. Be sure to have your dress tailored for your body; to make it look best. You may want to ask your host if anyone else will be wearing a qipao, just to be safe.

It is also perfectly acceptable to wear more traditional Indian clothing. The Chinese people do not have strict expectations of what you should wear and are very accepting of people who wear clothing that is traditional in their home country. Especially for women, I think that the Chinese would find traditional Indian clothing to be an interesting addition to the banquet that expresses the international nature of the conference attendees.

Decent shirt and trousers are good. Suit is okay or no prolem for less formal wearing. Business attire is okay, not necessary to be very formal and not too casual.
