Winter in Nanning can be quite cold, not cold enough for snow, but temperatures during winter are chilly and humid. So, the wet cold really gets into your bones. I felt cold all time during the winter months. I strongly recommend a good heavy wool sweater. Your winter coat should be water resistant. Layers of warm clothes are better than one heavy coat. Be sure to wear a knit hat to keep your head warm. When I lived in Nanning we did not have indoor heat and the buildings were drafty. I usually wore gloves at home with the fingers open so I could type and turn pages in my text books. All the clothing you need can be purchased in China, so it may be more convenient to purchase what you need after you arrive. Shopping for clothes in China also gives you the opportunity to go out and mingle with the local people, which is a very valuable part of your international experience.
Good luck in School, Make lots of new friends and have fun in Nanning.
