Normally speaking, a L visa holder may stay in China for 1 month which counts from the date of his entrance into China. To stay longer, your husband need to specify his request in his application form and it'll be subject to the permission of the consul in charge. The marriage license between you and your husband and your Chinese ID card are helpful for him to get a longer stay duration.
