About:Chinese Embassy in Singapore

Hi, my boyfriend was posted to Shanghai for 2 years & I'm planning to visit him there every 2 months with approx 18 days stay per visit.

For this case, do I apply for a tourist or family visit visa? As mentioned in the China Visa Singapore website, "Those who apply for tourism in China should provide round-trip airline tickets and hotel reservation, for family visit should provide certificate of relationship". If I apply for a tourist visa, will I be able to get a multiple entries visa for 12 months & I will not have a hotel reservation & for family visit visa, I do not have any certificate of relationship as we are still not married yet.

Please advise. Tahnks

1. The simple solution is you stay in China for less than 15 days evey 2 months, then you don't need to apply for China visa because Singaporean nationals are exempt from a visa to Mainland China for up to 15 days.

2. If you really want to stay in Mainland China for more than 15 days, you can have a try to apply for one year multiple-entry L visa for family visit, you can use the Invitation Letter from your boyfriend together with the copy of his passport information pages and Chinese residence permit to prove your relationship. Maybe you can't get a multiple-entry L visa for the first time, but don't worry, if you have 2 L visa on your passport, on the third time, you will properbly issued a multiple-entry L visa.
