About:Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport

Is it true that official Thai passport holder doesn't need a visa to go to China. I've been told that from an officer in the Chinese embassy in Bangkok. I'm going to Goangzhou in two weeks. I want to be sure, there won't be a problem. It there's a problem, can I ask for on arrival visa at Baiyun Airport?
