About:Apply for China Visa in a Third Country

I am travelling to Japan this Friday followed by a trip to China where I have been invited by a University. I was advised though to get a simple tourist visa so I don't have an official invitation, just a hotel reservation.

In France they recently changed the opening days and required documents for Chinese visa so I could not get my visa before leaving but am hoping to get the visa for China in Tokyo.

Is that feasible in a week? I arrive in Tokyo on Friday 24 September(afternoon) and I have booked a flight to China (Changsha) via Hong Kong on Friday October 1st (morning)

It is feasible in a week, it takes 4 working days for visa application of China embassy in Tokyo, if you submit the application on 27 September (Monday), you can pick it up on 30 September (Thursday).
