About:Chinese Embassy in U.K.

I am wishing to cross into China from Kyrgyzstan via the Irkeshtam Pass before continuing on into Pakistan via the Khunjerab Pass. We are planning to do this in our own vehicle and have learnt that we will require a "Special Tour" L-visa.

Is this correct? If so, how do we go about obtaining the correct paperwork to make this possible?

Thank you for all your help!

Yes, you need to get a "Special Tour" L visa, a visa notification form issued by China National Tourism Administration or the tourism administration of related province, autonomous region or municipality directly under the Central Government is required.

You can apply for the visa notification letter from Xinjiang Tourism Administration through a travel agency in Xinjiang.
