About:Chinese Embassy in Australia

Hi - i am a student currently studying in China with an X Visa (single entry) and have only entered the country on the 3rd of September 2010. I plan to be here for a year however I have an obligation to go to HK next Tuesday.

1. Am i allowed to exit China to HK on this visa even though i have not applied for my residency permit? (note: i have not gone over the 30 day time limit to apply for residency)

2. Once in HK - should i apply for another single entry X visa to get back into China?

3. Will i be able to smoothly enter back into China with this X visa and then proceed to apply for my residency permit again with my university upon my return?

Thanky

Thank you so much! The office at my uni said I should get an F or L visa and then come back and apply for residency. But I am here for a year and was initially instructed to get an X visa when I was in Australia. Now I am really confused as to what I should do.

Any help will be appreciated.

Ms.Kerr, because the univeristy can't give you a new JW201 or Jw202, and admission letter again, therefore, you can't apply for X visa in Hong Kong, it is also a good advice for you to get a L visa in Hong Kong, then return to Mainland China to apply for temporary residence permit.

Ms.Kerr, you are permitted to exit Mainland China to Hk on this X visa, but you are not permitted to enter Mainland China again on this X visa, you have to apply for another single entry X visa in Hong Kong and get back into Mainland China. Then apply for residency permit with your university upon your return.
