Do you recommend DIY tour for family? How is the public transport facility in Harbin? Are people there friendly and honest?

People are friendly in Harbin and public transportation is fine. Within the city proper, you can just take taxi. You can DIY your tour if you can plan it well, although I think a tour package would be more convenient for you.
