About:Tibet Travel Permit

Hi, I am a resident of China but a Canadian passport holder. Myself and 3 friends (also residents but Canadians) are wanting to travel on the Beijing to Lhasa train for the October National holiday. Is travel still permitted to Tibet for foreigners during this time?
Are the same regulations still in effect where we need to be part of a tour group?
Do you know of any good tour companies operating out of Tianjin (TEDA) or Beijing? Thank you.

Yes, you can handle the permit in Tibet Travel administration office in Beijing, with your resident permit.

Mr.James, do I have to go to the office myself to apply for the permit or can someone go on behalf of me?
