About:Luggage Porter

We will be visiting China for a wedding in Guilin in November. Our plan is to leave Guilin on Nov. 22 and fly to Kunming. We would love to visit Dali and Lijiang; however, our flight back to the US leaves Kunming on Nov. 25, at night, and the dates are firm. How does one get around from Kunming to Dali, and hopefully to Lijiang? How long does it take by bus, train, plane? Any other help or suggestions would be appreciated.

At the moment there are roadworks between Kumning and Dali, and the busride took us more than 7 hours. The road the bus used is very bad. We were stucked at least for 2 hours. So inform yourself about the situation if you take the bus. Also the bus goes to new Dali, from where you need to take a taxi or another bus. Taxis are cheap in China, but the distance between Kumning and Dali is rather big. A plane is another option. Planes are cheap, and there are several a day. Dali to Lijiang is only 3 hours by bus, departing from new Dali. My reply is while I am in Lijiang now

Hi, the best way to do this travel is by bus. It takes about 4 hours from Kunming to Dali and about 3 hours from Dali to Lijiang.

Fly from Kunming to Dali is expensive and you need to waste a lot of time to pass through the procedure. It is cheaper by train from Kunming to Dali, but it needs about 6 hours.

There is no plane and train from Dali to Lijiang, but the bus from Dali to Lijiang is very convenient.
