About:Hongkong Attractions

hi - I am a woman, 56 years old, travelling alone in China in Nov - Dec 2010. I have a few questions
1. can you recommend a suitable but inexpensive accomodation in Hong Kong. Something in a safe area, easy to get around by subway or on foot.
2. I would like to visit Guilin, staying 1 or 2 nights. How can I get there from Hong Kong?
3. Can you recommend a place to have clothes tailor-made in several days?
Thank you for any help you can give.

How about Evergreen Hotel? Within walking distance from Temple Street, Jade Market and within ten minutes walking to Jordan MTR Station. I think you should fly to Guilin from Hong Kong, or no direct connection. A well-know tailor shop called Sam's Tailor in Shop K, Ground Floor, Burlington Arcade, 94 Nanthan Road, Tsim Sha Tsui.

Hi Jinis, suitable but inexpensive accomodation, if very cheap, you can go to Chungking Mansion or Sincere Mansion, there are many Hostels in those mansions, but it seems a little unsafe for a single woman. Maybe BP International Hotel or Panda Hotel are good choices. BP International is near MTR Jordan Station and Panda Hotel is near MTR Tswen Wan Station.
2. To Guilin. a better way is to take MTR to Luohu Boarder, pass the customs and take Subway Line 1 to Zhuzilin Station, after alighting, take Long Distance Bus at Futian Bus Station that is very close to the Subway Station to Guilin, there is one bus daily at 19:50, the bus runs 12 hours. Bus Fare is CNY220 per person.
3. Jantzen Tailor: Room 504 & 505, 5th Floor, On Lok Yuen Building, 25-27 Des Voeux Road Central, Hong Kong.
Central station B exit if you come by MTR
