You need not to make an appointment, just go to the Chinese embassy directly 09:00 to 12:00 am, Monday to Friday with your passport, one passport photo, application form, invitation letter from China and your Switzerland residence permit. You'd better wait until you get the b permit beforehand. If you are going to stay in China more than 6 months, a health check is required.

Ms.christina, generally speaking, the single-entry China tourist visa permits 30 days stay duration in China, If your estimated stay in China is longer than 30 days, please make it clear in the application form and ask for the Visa Officer's approval when you submit your application..
