About:China Customs Declaration

I will be travelling to China soon and a friend asked if I could bring some cosmetics from the US. Will these have to be declared/taxed? Thanks

If the total price exceeds rmb2,000, tax will be needed. Taxt rate for cosmetics: 50%.
