About:Chinese Embassy in France

I, and my kids, hold dual passports (French and USA),My wife, who is from china holds a USA passport. We live in the USA, California.

Can I apply for a Chinese visa using our french passport? It is my understanding that applying with a USA passport is $100 more (total $140) due to a USA imposed fees. If I use my french passport, is it cheaper?

If we go to Hong Kong, and decide to go to Shenzhen, can we apply for a visa in HK at the last minute? How long does it take? How much, what are the requirements? I thought it was just a picture, visa application, and payment... Is there a requirement for birth cert??

Since I am a dual citizen, is there any advantage to apply using a FRENCH or USA passport? costs? ease of getting passport?

Thanks!

It's true that the visa fee is cheaper for France Passport Holders than USA Passport holders, however, If you want to get the China visa in USA, you have to use your USA passport, the China embassy won't accept your France passport in USA. If you apply for visa in France, you can use your French passport.

You can apply for a China visa in Hong Kong, however, please apply for it one week before your departure, it takes 4 working days for visa processing, if you apply for it at the last minute, you have to apply for rush service of 1 working day by paying extra fee.

The requirements are: applicants' passport, each applicant need to fill one visa application form of China, one passport photo of each applicant, you or your wife can sign the visa application form on behalf of your kids, the copy of your previous China visa, the birth certificate of your kids, your wife's previous Chinese passport or USA passport.

If you want to get the China visa in Hk by using your French passport, the Hk entry should be stamped on your French passport.
