About:Chinese Embassy in South Korea

Dear Mr or Madam,
I had a question which I'm wondering if you could answer for me. My husband and I are planning to go to China end of Sep. We already got a 30day L visa. Now our plans have changed. We are planning to study chinese at a university in China (less than 6 months) but we are going to South Korea first to visit family. We don't know if we will be able to receive the invitation letter from the university before we leave to Korea. Is it possible to apply for a change of visa from L to Business F visa at the Korea Embassy even though we don't have ARC cards?
Thanks for any help on this!

Mrs.Mary, you can not get your L visa changed in Korea. it is very hard even to apply for a new visa there if you do not have a ARC card. So, better to apply an F visa in Canada after getting an invitation letter. Or, maybe you can just enter China with that L visa, and get it changed to an F visa in China, which your university or visa agencies can help.
