You can have a try to apply for a 1 year multiple-entry Tourist (L) visa, generally speaking, the stay duration of L visa is 30 days per entry, If your estimated stay in China is longer than 30 days, please make it clear in the application form and ask for the Visa Officer's approval when you submit your application. The longest stay duration is 180 days per entry.

If you just get a single-entry visa permits 30 days stay after entry, you can extend it twice at the local Exit & Enter Department for 30 days, then in fact, you can stay in China for 3 months.
