About:Hong Kong Octopus Card

Hi there! Will be visiting Hongkong this November 2010 4D and 3N. We are 7 adults and would like to see Disneyland, ocean park, Victoria Peak, giant Buddha, Ngong Ping 360 and possibly the Stanley market. What would you advise us to buy, the ordinary octupus card or the Airport express travel pass? Is there a special group card to accomodate us all? Lastly, how can we get to our itineraries if we ride an MTR ot bus to and fro Novotel Citygate tung chung?

If you are not going to take the airport express, I advise you to buy the ordinary octupus card.
Novotel to Disneyland: Walk to Tung Chung Station and take Ting Chung Line. Then transfer the disneyland Resort at Sunny Bay. You will get to the Disneyland.

To Ocean Park: Take Tung Chung Line at MTR Tung Chung Station - B and get off at MTR Cheung Sha Wan Station - C2. Then take bus 171 at Cheung Sha Wan Station, Cheung Sha Wan Road and alight at Aberdeen Tunnel Toll Plaza. Walk to the Ocean Park.

To Victoria Peak: Take Tung Chung Line at MTR Tung Chung Station - B and get off at
MTR Hong Kong Station - E2. Then transfer bus 15 at Central (Exchange Square) and drop off at Mount Kellett Road, Peak Road. Walk to Victoria Peak.

To Giant Buddha: Take bus 23 at Tung Chung Town Centre Bus Terminus and drop off at Tung Sing Store. Then walk to the Giant Buddha.

To Ngong Ping 360: Walk about 1km to Ngong Ping 360 Station from Ting Chung Station.

To Stanley market: Take Tung Chung Line at MTR Tung Chung Station - B and get off at MTR Hong Kong Station - E2. Then take bus 6 at Central (Exchange Square) and alight at
Stanley Village, Stanley Village Road. You will get to the Stanley market.

Thanks a lot Mr. David for that detailed instruction. One last thing, may I know how much is an ordinary octupus card costs and does it require a HK$50 deposity in it? Hope you won't mind my asking because I only read about the Airport Express travel pass and has no idea about the ordinary octupus card.

It is my pleasure.
You can apply the on-loan Octopus card. The card is free but you should deposit HK$50 in it which can be refunded with any outstanding balance before you leave Hong Kong.
