About:Chinese Embassy in Japan

I'm travelling to Japan for 2 weeks in January 2011. From Japan I plan to get a ferry to Shanghai and then after a few days a train from there to Hong Kong.

Can anyone advise me on the what visas I would need and if it's easier to get them while in Japan or before I leave the UK?

You need a single-entry tourist visa (L visa)to Shanghai, China, you don't need a visa to Hong Kong because Uk citizens can visit Hk for up to 180 days without a visa.

It is easier for you to get a China L Visa in UK.
