About:Yinchuan Hedong Airport

I was planning on catching the train from Hong Kong to Beijing but today have been told that its a poor quality train service. I find this hard to believe. I'm not looking for luxury, just a reliable, comfortable service. Can anyone who has travelled on this recently please advise? I know it takes a full day, but I thought its a way of seeing some of the country.

I have taken numerous long train rides in China, usually overnight sleepers. They are excellent, comfortable and clean, with good food service. I have no negatives. However, opt for the highest class of service (soft sleeper), the lower classes do not offer much space. The fares are so inexpensive, its not an issue.

Hi
I just arrived in Beijing after a 32hour trip from Hong Kong. I have traveled all over Europe on trains and have to say that the T98 train was not too bad. The hard sleeper is a bit of a problem- particularly for those on the upper bunk for it is extremely difficult to get to the top and a little uncomfortable. I suggest getting an upper level soft sleeper which doesn't cost very much more. The trip is nearly 24hours but the train is direct and not to bumpy. It's also a great way to save on a nights worth of accommodation (though it eats up a little of your day). The train leave Hong Kong at 15:15 and arrives at Beijing at around 3pm- enough time to do a few touristy things once you arrive. I don't think that the train is a bad option- it's a lot cheaper and the beds are comfortable, and the food's not too bad. Do consider it.
Good luck
