No direct trains are available. Below are two pieces of suggestions:
1. take the train D3201 to Xiamen first, and then take a bus to Shantou, which costs around 3 hrs from Xiamen to Shantou;
2. go to Wenzhou first which is near to Ruian, and from Wenzhou to Shantou, you can take the train by transferring at Nanchang or lushan.
