About:Chinese Embassies in Europe

I have been invited to China regarding a potential job offer the week of July 19-23. My Canadian passport expires August 24th, 2010. I understand that my passport needs to be valid for 6 months in order to acquire a visa. Are there exceptions to this requirement? If Ihave been given notice of termination by the company I work for in Dubai do I need a non objection letter?
