About:Chinese Embassy in Vietnam

I have a question similar to the situation posted by Ms. Brooke. I will be traveling from Hanoi to Shanghai Pudong airport via Guangzhou on a single ticket. I will arrive in Shanghai and have 25 hours until my flight to Japan on a different airline with a different ticket. Will I need a visa to leave Hanoi and enter China? Will I need a visa, if I don't leave the airport in Shanghai aside from leaving terminal 2 to collect my luggage and go to terminal 1?

Thank you.

yes, you need a China tourist visa because you transit Guangzhou and Shanghai, the two cities in China.

Reading Ms. Brooke's post, I was unsure weather the transit visa could be picked up upon arrival in China, in Hanoi, if I could be done electronically with HCMC or if I had to go to HCMC in person to acquire the necessary paperwork. Once more, thank you for your help.
