About:Chinese Embassy in Japan

Hello. I'm a US citizen residing in Kagoshima, Japan, and wish to obtain a Chinese visa so that I can visit a friend in Guangzhou. If I understand correctly I have to apply for the visa in person at the Chinese Embassy in Tokyo, and that it takes four days to process. Do I also need to pick up the visa in Tokyo?

Once arriving in China, I need to present the visa, a two-way ticket, and hotel reservations. However, I plan to stay with a friend. Is it acceptable to provide her address instead of the hotel reservations?

Thanks in advance, Carl

Kagoshima is under the consular jurisdiction of China consulate-general in Fukuoka, you should go to Fukuoka to apply for China visa. it's true that it takes 4 working days for visa processing, you don't need to pick it up in person if it is not convenient for you. You can ask someone else to pick up the visa and passport for you.

The hotel reservation are not required when you enter China, if the immigration officer asks for it, you can show the invitation letter from your friend and the copy of passport of your friend
