About:How to Apply for a China Visa

I am a US citizen living in Japan. I understand that I need to present the visa application in person at the consulate (in my case the Chinese Consulate in Osaka). My problem lies in receiving the visa. Do I have to be physically present to pick up the visa, or could the consulate mail me the completed visa. Would bringing a postage paid envelop with my address on it help?

You don't need to pick up the visa in person, you can give the pick-up receipt to someone else and ask them to collect the visa for you. The consulate can't mail back the visa to you.

Thank you for your help, how long will the consulate hold after requesting a visa? Am I able to go 2 or 3 weeks later to pick it up?
