About:Chinese Temporary Residence Permit

Hello,

I am a US citizen who holds a Chinese temporary residence permit. The problem is as I am now in Hong Kong and planning to stay up to August, while my Chinese residence permit will soon expire On June 25. Can I renew my Temporary Residence Permit in Hong Kong for a year? Will the process the same as if we are doing in China?
