my family plan to travel to lijiang around sept.

Question

My family plan to travel to lijiang around sept.  we have plan either1) fly to shengzhen then to lijiang or2) fly to kungming then take train to lijiang.  How many hours it take from kunming to lijiang by train?Next question is better to travel by ourself or join the local tour when in lijiang?

Based on my knowledge, your first option is more reasonable. If you can catch a word or two of mandarin and have some idea about Chinese minorities, or your purpose of your trip is the natural landscape of Lijiang, it's all right to travel on your own. Otherwise, you may consider take a tour with the travel company.
